The world is a scary place. Ebola and other plaques. Terrorists threatening ordinary people. But still we have so much to be thankful for. A blue sky, a child's smile, hope, love and a anchor that holds in every storm of life. Our God Psalm 46.

The Summer that Never Was

August in Central Ontario is usually hot. Days of lazing at the beach and cooling off in one of our beautiful lakes. This year we can count the hot days on one hand. Today is fifty degrees and we have the wood stove on in the evenings. I am wearing my fall clothes. And the rain never ends we should be thankful for so much water as so many countries need it and we are blessed with an over abundance. Oh well maybe the fall will be glorious.

The Winter That Wouldn't End

It snowed again yesterday. Its April for crying out loud, usually by this time I can walk around my house and see a few bulbs sprouting. Right now there is about four feet of the white stuff in my yard impossible to maneuver. Sometimes I feel absolutely claustrophobic. How about the poor little chipmunks they claw through the snow outside there holes and run back in shock. I am longing for spring or anything green and flowers how I miss them. I survive by dreaming reading writing and sitting by the fire watching way to much television. Exercise is more difficult as the icy roads can be treacherous to walk, more hardy souls then I cross country ski, ice fish and skate or play hockey. I take drives and go to a community center 40 minutes away just to swim in their pool. Next year I plan on being down south, maybe Mexico. Hope your winter was short.

Noah the movie 2014

I was so excited to see this film, the trailer looked really great. I took my daughter for her birthday and my granddaughter. I was really disappointed as to how from from the real story Hollywood went. Not only that although Russell Crowe was great the story was slow going at times and far fetched. In the original story all of Noah's sons had wife's in this film only one does. Then there were these strange giant creatures made of rock helping Noah build the ark and protecting him from the evil masses. This seemed almost silly at times. Some of the cinematography was great but the story line only a weak 7 out of ten. I found myself wishing it was over, which is sad after all the build up this movie had. Winter Gloom

Today is gloomy and dank and dull. I feel a difference in the air though spring can't be far away and we have that to look forward to. Things that can make your day bright can be simple. Have a special dinner, watch the Olympic games men's semi finals today. Me I am dreaming of the flowers under the snow and summer at the beach. Do something to cheer yourself up or take a simple walk. Hope you can smile anyway.
